Uplifting scents

Uplifting scents contain some of the most useful essential oils because they help alleviate common psychological symptoms including depression, anxiety, melancholy and apathy. Some of these moods are not entirely psychological and may have physical causes, which you should not attempt to treat. For clinical depression, always seek professional medical advice. Nonetheless, these uplifting mood scents may be of benefit to anyone who is feeling generally low.
Because there are many uplifting essential oils, check carefully how you are feeling before making up a blend. Once you have found a few key words that describe how you feel, read carefully in the directory of essential oils the descriptions of the various essential oils suggested as uplifting, and choose accordingly.
Bergamot, melissa, geranium, rose absolute and rose otto are classic essential oils for creating uplifting mood scents. Basil, holy basil and sandalwood are also good choices. If there is anxiety involved, include neroli, roman chamomile or frankincense; if apathy is a concern, then jasmine, rosemary and patchouli are useful. Orange and mandarin are cheery, smiley oils that enhance uplifting blends.
