Lemon-scented Eucalyptus

Description: Lemon-scented eucalyptus is a tall evergreen tree with attractive pink and grey variegated bark. Although similar to the other eucalyptus species, it is distinguished by its aroma. The essential oil is steam-distilled from the leaves.

Countries of origin: Brazil, Indonesia, China, Morocco, Seychelles

Characteristics: Lemon-scented eucalyptus has fresh, citronella, lemon top notes and sweet, balsamic undertones. It blends well with most Corals and citruses, and with some spices.
Main therapeutic properties: Antiseptic, anti-viral, bactericidal, deodorant, expectorant, insecticide.


Lemon-scented eucalyptus is an excellent choice to use for colds, sore throats and flu. Steam inhalations with lemon-scented eucalyptus help clear the sinuses and relieve headaches. A couple of drops of lemon-scented eucalyptus used in the bath, perhaps blended with lavender and rosemary is refreshing and uplifting. It is also good for athlete’s foot, herpes and dandruff, and makes an excellent insect repellent. Overall, lemon-scented eucalyptus is refreshing, clearing and invigorating.
Psychologically, it dispels fatigue and debility; it also clears the mind and can assist in making decisions. Lemon-scented eucalyptus is useful in meditations if you have a cold, helping to keep the mind clear and focused.
